Dual-Monitor & good 3D-Performance

Hi!
I have to set up a system for a friend who does professional
graphics design (advertising).
She needs a Dual-Monitor-System.
1) Should I take the ATI or the matrox G450?
Or two single-head cards?
2) Does she need 3D-performance? Tom only tests 3D-Cards for
gaming purposes. Are they also useful for graphics design
(advertisement - not technical engineering)?
She won't be able to afford an ELSA Gloria III, but
would a combination of a card with GeForce III for the first
& a very cheap card for the second monitor be useful?
(She needs the second monitor for the toolbars.
3) Tom writes, that it is only possible in Win98 to set up
different resolutions on different monitors. Not with NT.
So, what about WIn2000 Professional?
Thank you very much for any comments.
Peter.

For Design work, a dual monitor system is a dream. i would recommend the Radeon VE, or the Matrox for this purpose. As far as features though, ATI has an edge in some situations, it can play games OK and is very inexpensive. I have also installed a few and with exception to broken monitors (not the video card's fault) have had no problems with them. If all she is doing is 2D (which most design work utilizes) and a little 3D, the Radeon card will be more than adequate

If it works for you then don't fix it.
