Dual monitor help

I just got a new Asus 23'' hd monitor, i plugged in the hdmi cable but im recieving a no vga signal notice when i turn on the monitor then it shuts off, i had a sapphire hd 6970 2gb gpu, my first monitor is plugged into a vga to dvi adapter.

What can i do to make them both work?

HDMI ports are sometimes paired with a DVI port, and you can only use one or the other. Try moving your VGA monitor to the other DVI connection.
