I have two monitors, a DELL S2230MX, and a DELL D2015H. I have my DELL S2230MX connected with a vga cable, and my DELL D2015H connected with a dvi adapter which adapts to a end that is red, i dont know what thats called. So my DELL D2015H says that there is no signal coming from my computer, but i have it plugged into my computer.. Any help?

DVI to VGA adapters only work if the dvi port on the video card is dvi-I (or dvi-a). If it is DVI-D this does not work.

As you can see the DVI-I or DVI-A connector has the extra 4 pins, that is what carries the analog data that can be converted to VGA.

If your video card is dvi-d then you will need to either use a different kind of cable to go to your monitor (hopefully one of them supports dvi or hdmi).
Otherwise you will need to get an active adapter (one with a box and its power cord) to actually convert the signal from hdmi or dvi to vga. Frankly I would rather spend the money on a newer monitor over an adapter to make my new stuff work with my old inferior equipment.

My video card has a vga and a dv-a connection on it. My DELL D2015H only supports dv-i, so i got a adapter, and my DELL S2230MX supports vga. Oh, and the DELL D2015H was working before, but then i unplugged it to check out my computers ethernet cable, and now it doesnt work. Anyone have an idea on how to fix it?
