Dual Monitor Issue

I am new to hooking up dual monitors for my PC. I have done a little research but can't find the answer to my problem. I have an AMD Radeon HD 7570 [strike]driver[/strike] GPU and a DVI-I to 2 VGA splitter cord. Everything is plugged in and both screens are on but it is a mirror image. When I right click and go to screen resolution, there is no option to extend AND the detect button is not accessible. What am i doing wrong?

You're running from a single output when your cable is split - so it's only going to detect as a single monitor.

You'd need a separate cable running to your second monitor.

Perfect! I ordered another cable to change my display port to an hdmi to hook to the second monitor to! Thank you very much!
