I have an LG ultrawide 2560x1080 and a regular panasonic led tv. My graphics card has one dvi-i, one hdmi, and one display port. i have to connect my hdmi port to my tv so the sound can go to soundbar.

That leaves the dvi and displayport for my monitor which has only two hdmi inputs. I tried a displayport to hdmi adapter and couldnt get the resolution to 2560x1080, then i also tried a dual-link dvi to hdmi adapter and same issue arises. my ultrawide monitor cant get the 2560x1080 display. Any help or suggestions?

Your PC Monitor does not have DVI ports? If your PC Monitor does not have DVI port, it is likely it is not a PC Monitor...are you sure it is not a TV or other type of monitor?

It might be a setting in the monitor only allowing HDMI to be set at a maximum 2560x1080 resolution. Check your monitor specification to see if any restrictions apply to the HDMI ports in regards to maximum resolution.

right my monitor has two hdmi ports and thats it.

when i use the pc's hdmi port for the monitor, it goes to 2560x1080, but i cant use the monitor in the pcs hdmi because it has to go to the panasonic led for sound.

It seems like a monitor compatibility issue. No TRUE PC Monitor has only HDMI, sounds like a TV to me.

TV and PC Monitors have way different resolution settings and do not work the same. That is a 24" PC Monitor can cost the same as a 55" TV.

model: 29UM57..... designed to be a monitor. life would be so much better if it had a dispay port input like the 34" inch model but it doesnt. just the two hdmi's.

Look at the specs for that monitor, first line states:

"ULTRAWIDE 21:9 IPS WQHD panel (2560x1080)"

2560x1080 is the maximum resolution, there is nothing wrong with the monitor or your configuration. If you wanted more resolution, may want to purchase another monitor and/or review the specs more carefully.
