Hello,

My current PC specs:

1. GTX 780.
2. 16 GB ram.
3. 128 GB SSD
4. 1TB WD Harddrive.
5. i7 4770k
6. Corsair H100.
7. Corsair gold 750W PSU.
8. Asus ROG motherboard.

Current Monitor: Benq XL2420T

So here are my 3 questions:

1. First of all I am thinking of adding a IPS 24 inch 1080p display. What monitor would you recommend don't need to spend a lot as it will be the secondary monitor, I just want a high quality one. What effects will it have on the performance of my PC. Will i be able to run a game in one monitor and use this secondary monitor for the other things? Is the set up of a dual monitor hard?

2. I have had this PC for 3 years it works great and I have no complaints but im afraid adding a monitor will hinder the performance. Been thinking of getting a new CPU (6700k) and either a 1070 or a 1080. What do you think will it be required? or should i wait more.

3. My PC has no sound card and i am thinking of adding speakers do i need one for it. Iv been thinking of the Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speakers. Recommend any other?

Games i play is mainly just League of Legends. But thinking of start with overwatch.

Thanks a lot.

The upgrade of GPU will be worth it, I ran 780s and moved to 980s and loved the increase and now have a 980Ti on my Skylake and it's better so jumping 780 to 1070 or 1080 will be sweet (I'm planning to grab a 1080 once the manufacturers get their models out, will probably go with a Strix as their 980 and 980Ti were both great ;) Again monitor is more of a personal thing and you don't need a top of the line for a secondary monitor, could even look at a TV something in 1080 hi-def, I've got a 32" Sceptre 1080 as a secondary on a rig. Sound is good with the mobo output - try it and see how it is for you before investing in a sound card

Don't really need a sound card unless you want higher quality audio, the ROG mobos have good audio, for the monitor, I generally look to Asus and BenQ first, but their are plenty of others. The 780 will run two monitors just fine. Going Skylake is a step up not a real major one since you have a 4770K. I've got a pair of 4770K rigs running that are fine, I replaced my Ivy Brige with a Skylake build (in sig)

So based on all my research I have decided to keep my i7 4770k as the public in general say that an upgrade from a i7 4770k to a i7 6700k isn't worth it. So now im concentrating on the GPU is it worth upgrading from a GTX 780 to either a GTX 1070 or 1080, also will I need a new motherboard or something new to support it?

Also what monitor do you recomend I have a Benq XL240t that will remain as my main monitor, I am looking for a 24 inch 1080p its display as a secondary. Also is it hard to set up a dual monitor and also it is possible to run a game in one monitor and use the other as a entertainment source right?

Lastly for speakers you said I should just plug it in the Mother board correct it will sound fine right?

Thank you so much.

Ok, first of all thanks a lot for your responses.

So quick questions, I heard people talk about bottlenecking idk what that is but will a i7 4770k bottleneck a a gtx 1070 or 1080 and will i be able to just buy and plug the GPU on my motherboard or do I need something new. Lastly, what do people normally do with a GPU they don't use sell it?

In regards with the Monitors is it hard to set up a dual monitor with one GPU? As in plugging in and making it work.

I agree with what you told me with the sound card ill buy speakers if i don't like the sound that comes out of motherboard ill just by a sound card and plug it in there.

Thanks a lot.
