i recently set up dual monitors which is brilliant, but i would like to know if there is anyway to alter the way XP will focus windows.

what i would like its the ability to be playing a game say CS:S or watch a film in one screen, then use the other screen for web surfing, msn, work etc, however i do not want whatever is in the first screen to loose focus.

BUMP

hmm is no one responding cause they dont know what i want or because its painfully obvious what i need to do?

with dual monitors i would like to be able to have two seperate windows ie Firefox and VLC(fullscreen) and have both in focus aslong as they are in different monitors, this would mean that when i started to type in word the taskbar wont appear on top of my film because Word has nicked the window focus.

Well I don't think you can really do that with games, because the game wouldn't be able to know if you are trying to turn around or go onto the other screen.

As for with a movie, I don't really understand what you are asking. I don't have two monitors, so I don't really know what you mean.

must admit its hard to explain, ok on a single monitor, say you have two windows open, there will be one in focus which will be ontop of all the other windows, and one behind which is not in focus, now normal xp behaviour is that you can only be in one window at one time, however i would like it so that when i have the two windows in seperate screens they can both be in focus...

its not a problem with steam games, because of the chat overlay(shift+tab) in the overlay i can move my mouse to the other screen, however when i go accross to the other screen and select a song from WMP my game minimises, now i dont want my game to minimise hence having both WMP and the Game in focus on both screens.

Well I am getting a second monitor sometime this summer, and I too would like to be able to do this. There may be software that can help with it, but I'm not sure if it's possible. I hope someone else on here know more about it than me, because I can't really help you that much.

But I thought that if you were watching a movie on one screen you could do other stuff on the other screen just fine. Are you saying that this isn't the case?

you can do other stuff on the other screen without problem, the thing is that the movie will loose focus and the windows task bar will display at the bottom of the screen which spoils the experience for me.
