I have had just 1 monitor connected with standard vga directly to the monitor. I bought a new monitor a few days back and i go to connect it a realise i need a hdmi to vga adapter as my gpu only had vga,dvi (digital) and of course hdmi. I bought an adpater from ebay for less than £5 and it arrived today. I plug it in and it makes my old monitor blink, so i see it is connected, although there is no display on my new screen (with adapter). It seems to be connected as the light of my monitor is on and not blinking to show it has a signal. The screen resolution feature on windows detects both monitors and i set them up as "extended" but still no display on the new screen. If i click detect on the screen resolution feature it un-detects my new monitor. I tried the hdmi-vga using just one monitor and it doesnt work, just a black screen. And then i tried it on my brothers PC and it works just fine on its own (one monitor). At this conclusion i gather that it could possibly be something to do with my gpu as it doesnt want to detect hdmi (please note the vga and hdmi combination works fine if i connect it to my ts (without the adapter))
