Dual monitors turn off when running multiple windows

So weird problem i'm having with my pc and my displays. While doing work on my computer i have many windows open (excel, adobe reader, google chrome, windows explorer) and while working i will have a video open (twitch, Netflix etc.). When i open another window such as a YouTube video or usually any other video window, both of my screens go black and start flickering from black to a dark grey. It seems as if the computer loses connection with the displays and is trying to regain connectivity. Eventually the screens will just stay black and only the mouse is visible and can move. Nothing else shows up. I then have to hold the pc power button and restart the computer. I have recently built a new pc with all new parts except i kept my hard drive from my previous computer in which this problem was still occurring with the older PC. I am trying to figure what is causing this problem as i feel like it could only be my hard drive as that is the only thing i have kept from the older pc and installed into my new one. Any help or advice is appreciated, thanks.

PC specs:
Intel i5-6600k
EVGA Gtx 1070 ftw
Kingston16gb ram
EVGA 750B power supply
Gigabyte z170x gaming 3 motherboard
Screens are 2 1080p tvs using hdmi

The only reason I can think of is that there is so much stuff at once but it's a good computer.

It could be that applications are conflicting with each other in some way.
