Dual monitors will only mirror, not extend (hdmi splitter)

The title says it all. I've tried looking through so many different options and still they will only mirror when i want them to extend. Even in the screen resolution menu it says its extended view but it still only shows both monitors as mirrors of monitor 1.

I use:
AMD FX-8320 cpu
AMD r9 270 Gigabyte gpu
Gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3 motherboard
Portta 2 port HDMI splitter
1x 27in Samsung curved monitor
1x 24in LG flat monitor

If you use a splitter it will only split out one signal, so you cant extend the desktop.

You will need to use one of the dvi ports for the second monitor. If neither of your screens have a dvi input then get a dvi to hdmi adapter.

When using a splitter both monitors can only show the same image.
To get extended desktop you need to connect the second monitor to a different port.

If you talking about in-game (Eyefinity) then that is because the monitors don't have the same resolution. There's also Eyefinity SLS that can be enabled in Cataclyst Control Center, it works by combining the two monitors and tricking Windows into thinking it's only 1.

I only plan to use the 24" for web browsing, movies, or to monitor my chat since dual gameplay on two monitors at different sizes would be...difficult lol. And I have CCC, Flawless Widescreen and few others ready for when I do get two more 27" curved monitors. :]
