Hello all,

I just build a new computer with an ASRock H97 Pro4 motherboard and XFX Radeon R9 280x video card. I have two monitors that have both DVI and VGA connections; however, I only own VGA cables with DVI adapters.

I can't seem to get a dual monitor set up working. I've gone into the BIOS and enables IGPU Multi-Monitor. The only monitor detected is the one that's connected to the top DVI port on the video card (both monitors/cords work, since I've switched them). I've tried both monitors in the video card and one on the card and one using the VGA port on the motherboard. Nothing seems to be working.

Is there anyting else I can try?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You should have two dvi's and 1 hdmi on your GPU.. Correct? All you do is connect two dvi's to the gpu and your done.. or 1 dvi and 1 hdmi.. etc. Everything should be all on one GPU.

I've done that. When I turn on the second monitor, it says it's scanning for a signal, doesn't find one, and then goes to sleep. I've tried detecting the monitor through the change display settings menu and it doesn't detect the second monitor.

Would the fact that I'm using two VGA cables with DVI adapters have anything to do with this?

I learned that apparently there are two different types of DVI connectors; DVI-I and DVI-D. Both of my adapters are DVI-I, so I think that's why the second port wasn't detecting a monitor regardless of which wsa connected. Going to head out and buy either an adapter or DVI to HDMI cable. Will report back with results.
