I am not a gamer, overclocking or 3D graphics mean very little to me. The ability to use multiscreens however would be invaluable. Whilst mucking through countless reviews I have seen several mentions of dual screen capability (surroundvision) in both the P4r800 V Deluxe an P4r800 VM; I realize this only comes into play via updated Bios and an Ati card. My question is could I buy a IS7 G or a P4p800 with a 9800 card and get the same results. The integrated cards have more than enough speed and graphics for my Bourbon adled brain and bloodshot eyes but since I have to buy a card anyway could I use the faster boards and card and still have dual screen capability ( Never can tell when I'll have a good day )or should I stick with the V's. Thanks MeCasa 🙂

Most any modern card has dual RAMDACs on the card now anwyays. Just pick any motherboard, buy a 9800 Pro, and hook up two monitors.

So, all they're saying is the Vchip and card give you three monitors vrs. two monitors with the 865 and card ? And then they say the card may not fit against the memory? Am I understanding this correct, because I want dual monitors One for AutoCad, and one for job order, almost heaven for me. But if I have to buy a card anyway then I will get the faster board that the card fits in. Hell I can't afford three monitors anyway.

REVIEWS:

"Like RADEON 9000, the RADEON 9100 IGP sports dual 400MHz DACs, so potentially the RADEON 9100 IGP could be used to drive dual displays (although this capability isn’t provided by the ASUS board). The chip also provides TV-out support, allowing you to output directly to your TV."

"One additional feature the RADEON 9100 IGP supports is SURROUNDVIEW. Once a discrete ATI graphics card is installed, the 9100 IGP can be used to drive up to three separate displays, the first in a system chipset. SURROUNDVIEW is supported by the entire RADEON 9x00 family (excluding the RADEON 9700 and RADEON 9100), and works with Built By ATI as well as Powered by ATI graphics cards from manufacturers such as Sapphire, ABIT, and ASUS. All you will need is the latest BIOS for your motherboard (ASUS’ SURROUNDVIEW BIOS is currently in beta) as well as ATI’s CATALYST 4.3 display driver."

If your using Acad them you definitely dont want to use the integrated graphics only of the 865G. If you want 2 monitors....1 for ACAD and 1 for administrative applications then go with a 9800pro. If you are using 3d apllication ACAD then thats a different situation.

The surround view feature is nice since you can dedicate full video resources to ACAD. The real power of the 9100 IGP pro is for engineering and 3 monitors.
1 for the ACAD main window (attached to the 9800)
1 for the ACAD rendering window (attached to the 9800)
1 for the administrative window (attached to the integrated chipset)

For the fun factor I would go with the 9100 pro IGP and a 9800 pro. You need the video card already and the 9100 is equal to the 865G. Remember if you use a 865G and you insert another video card it automatically disables the onboard video.

get the 9100 IGP pro. Bios is available now.

Unless you really need 3 monitors, I'd just stick with the 865P chipsets boards and a dual monitor card.

it seems to me that if you put in an agp card, the onboard video stops working, least thats how all the boards ive used work. pci is a different story.
