Dual monitors

I recently upgraded my 1440x900 19" LCD monitor to a 1680x1050 22" LCD monitor. I was curious about running the two monitors simultaneously. But I'm pretty sure the monitors have to be the same size (pixel count) in order for this to work. Has anyone tried running two monitors utilizing two different pixel counts? If so, what were the results?

You can run multiple monitors of different resolutions just fine. You can even have a wallpaper that stretches across them, even if they don't have the same resolution (I believe DisplayFusion is the program you'd be looking for).
