can i install 2 operating systems

yes ofc u can do that! just make a bootable DVD with the OS u wanna install alongside with ur OS ur currently running and install it.

Separate the OSs into different partitions or drives

Well yeahh u can definitely install 2 OS on the same hard drive only what u got to do is install the NEW OS to any other Disk other than the primary drive which is Crive.
A simple method to install ur desired OS is
Create a Bootable USB drive(Any pendrive with capacity more than 8GB will be sufficient), u can create Bootable USB with the help of PowerISO software.
