Dual PC Setup

So I'm planning to have a dual PC setup (not dual monitor) where I use two separate machines for separate purposes. I was wondering whether anyone would be able to recommend a video or website where they provide useful information on how to get a clean setup?

Thanks.

Solution

I ran 2 PCs connected to a single monitor/keyboard for quite a while, and it worked good for me. Eventually I upgraded my PC enough so I could run everything on 1 PC, so I consolidated.

In order do do this you will need a KVM switch. This lets you switch the control between PCs when you want.
Its a fast click of a button on the KVM or tap of button on your keyboard. You will need to make sure the plugs on the kvm switch match the plugs you have on your PC...
2 machines, 2 sets of keyboard/monitors/mice? or trying to use a single set of KVM with both machines?

Also, what are you looking for when you say "clean setup"? people who do this want different things out of their setups.

Fill this out and I'll deal with the recommendations.

AND you should get a good quality kvm switch. Use of a wireless keyboard/mouse is possible, but I dont recommend it.

The problem is you will not be able to see the output from both PCs at the same time on 1 monitor. If this is not what you want, then you will need to get separate monitors for each PC. You will also need to make sure your desk is big enough to hold both monitors.

The setup you use mainly depends on what you want to do with each of the PCs.

Solution

I already have my primary work computer for documents and YouTube related subjects. I am planning to build another computer primarily for gaming although I might also use it for YouTube.
I am currently undecided on whether I'll be buying completely new mouse and keyboard. I might just unplug them from one computer when not in use and quickly put them into the other.
