Hi guys I have fully functioning gaming rig I built 3 years ago.

Specs
i5 4690k OC 4.2mhz on custom water loop
Ram 2 x kingston hyper X savage 4GB dual kit 1866mhz
asus strix 1060 6GB OC
Be quiet! 650 watt Dark power pro 80 plus platinum

I bought the same ram set from amazon recently ( reconditioned ) fitted it only to have my rig power up then immediately off failing to post.

I done the usual test of the original ram and the one good stick of ram of the 2 new ones in all slots one slot at a time which did post and run.

So its not the slots that are dead/bad it must be that one stick of ram.

The only other thing I can think apart from the one stick being dead ( which it shouldn't be ) is I noticed the individual part numbers end 53 and 55. where as on my original ram they match one after the other so 315 and 316.

I had to make a deal to keep the one stick of ram and get half my money back in the end because I wanted/needed the 4GB of ram rather than send them back plus they would probably re-sell it to another customer.

So now I have 12GB of functioning ram in my rig with one seemingly dead stick in its box.

I have heard of the wrap it up in tin foil and back it in the oven at 200c to reflow it.

Any ideas and advice?
