Dual Screen 2nd monitor no signal

Hello, I have recently acquired a second monitor, currently my main screen is a 32" TV, which is plugged in via a blue VGA Cable to my Nvidia MSI 750Ti GTX, and the other monitor (The one that says no signal) is connected via a VGA to DVI-D connector; my PC detects that both monitors are plugged in as in my Display two monitors are detected, any suggestions?
(My GPU only has one VGA connector)

What knid of adapter are you using? DVI-D to VGA requires an active converter. They do sell cheap passive dvi-d to vga adapters but they are worthless as dvi-d doesn't carry an analog signal and the passive adapter cannot convert a digital signal to an analog one, that's why you need an active converter.

I put it down to the DVI adapter not working because I tried my main VGA into the DVI adapter and that still gets no signal

That's a passive adapter and will not work. You need an active converter to go from DVI-D to VGA. Here's an example of what you need.
