Dual Screen Preformance drop

Hey guys lets start out with my system specs

Amd 6000
Abit Fat an9 Board
2gb ram
x2 150 Raptors
650 Watt Antec
ATi 4870 512mb

x2 Lcds running at 1680x1050


Ok bought a new 22" lcd yesterday and while playing my games ive notice a signifcant drop in FPS. My board has two PCI-E slots was thinking about dropping a nv8600 i have laying around my shop in just to run my second LCD, Good idea, bad idea, discuss =)

You probably could do that, just make sure that you have your primary display set on your ATI, (cuz it's faster)

the reason you noticed a FPS drop is because you are making the one video card render the game and another desktop. (presuming you use one screen for gaming).

Furthermore make sure you have a strong enaugh power supply, and do not attempt to sli the cards. (not that you can ATI+NV, and skills if you can )

PS, looking at your information, how can you have joined in 1970, but your 21 years old? WTF??!! You would at least be 39 presuming you joined on the day of your birth.....

Yeah beater iv noticed that as well and its on quite a few profiles...

I'm confused though...iv noticed little if no performance drops when gaming and leaving up one of my 1280x1024/1360x768/1680x1050 monitors/tvs with stats for my card and cpu or torrent stats etc

Hmmm...then again i do have a 260 GTX so maybe its ati only

Hehe might be a ATi thing not sure, so shouldnt have any driver conflicts between ati and NV then, thats good ill see how it works and let yall know.

I could be wrong since I am still using XP, but...

Based on what I've read, WinXP will allow you to uses both ATI and nVidia drivers. Vista (and presumably Win 7) only allows you to use one set of drivers. So under Vista, both cards must be ATI or nVidia.

Seems like the OP posted while I was responding.

There is no workaround. Both cards must be from the either ATI, or nVidia.
