I recently just add a new asus vp228qg monitor. Hardware currently:
win7 64 bit
asus nvidia GeForce 1030
Asus M32 with i7-4790

Current setup is having the window playback device default on speakers, then under recording tab, default stereo mix, listen tab, with box checked on listen to this device, with pull down menu select with Asus VP228 (NVIDIA high definition audio). However, I don't get any sound out of this monitor.
Tried with Asus monitor as default on the playback device, i get sound from monitor, but then no sound from speakers... please help

Solution
Yeah well those two are different sources. Motherboard and graphics card (Hdmi) audio can't be played simultaneously. They're different audio sources and Microsoft has never allowed more than one to be played. Audio playback devices is like switching a TV input channel.
