Dual XEON E5520 VS SINGLE XEON W3565.

i wanna know about the motherboards for BOTH of these............. what about RAM.....and guided UPS.

Well the decision really depends on what you are needing this for. The W3565 will clearly be faster if it goes head to head on single threaded apps but it also carries a higher tdp of a 130 watts compared to 80watts with the E5520. If whatever you are using this for can take advantage of 16 threads then the dual setup will be faster. Also I noticed for the W3565 it only supports up to 24GB where as the E5520 will accept up to 144GBs per processor. Both support DDR3 up to 1066 and both have 8MB of cache the only clear difference is the core clocks W3565 wears a 3.2ghz clock and a tad faster QPI of 4.8GT/s. So like i said if whatever you will be useing this setup for cant take advantage of all of the 16threads of the dual setup then the W3565 is the winner.

For your motherboard you will have to be a little more specific about what you will be needing this for to choose a motherboard for it.

I need the system for maya,after effects,premiere, Zbrush ......my main aim is to hav stable rendering performance while i m on other software...like i specified above..... after effects,premiere,Zbrush .......do i really need dual XEON for the process ....????????? or ur saying is w3565 is the winner!!!!!!!!!

In particular the I7 930 which just came out supports 2.8 ghz 8m cache and a 4.8GTs QPI will perform about on par with the W3565 at a quarter the price. Also what else do you need for this build Hard drive, graphics card, power supply, OS. Do you need any of those?


Depending on what you need I think the I7 930 which goes for 300 on a nice x58 motherboard overclocked to say 3.4 to 3.8ghz will give you all the performance you need for what you are doing.

yes i do need info about {{Hard drive, graphics card, power supply}}. bt wud u blieve it presently i m running with q6600 core2quad, 4gb ddr2, fx 570. and board P5nd asus. and i hardly shut it down for 10-20 mints in 24hrs. cuz i need it to run that way due to heavy work i want to do....thats why i was asking for XEON family......
LAST QUESTION: ARE U SURE THAT I MUST GO WITH I7 SERIES. cuz some of the guy's saying that i7 is meant for gaming {8-9into7} wheres XEON are meant for {24into7}. now what????

Actually I7 is meant for Heavy CPU intensive work yes it games good but the I5 is geared more towards gaming. The only real difference between the I7 and the XEON is its able to use ECC memory. Other then that an I7 on a good motherboard is a very strong choice for a workstation. Either way you go i think you should stick with a single socket your budget cant afford a dual socket. A single I7 will will be more then enough power for what you are doing. If your budget was 3 to 4000 then a xeon would be feasible but for 2000 its not happening.

You still need to pick a video card. And all these prices are from newegg. Now you could switch out the 960 for a 930 if you feel comfortable with overclocking the 930 it can go to at least 3.4ghz on stock voltage and save 200 on the processor and spend extra cash on the video card. As you can see 2000 gets tight quick.

i f somehow i manged to get dual xeon e5520 or single w3565...ur saying {i7 960}......which of these mid range HUNKS can fasten up the rendering speed for a file containing 90,000 polys which i want to be rendered in AVI???

or i must wait for intel's meeting going to be held in my city on 19th of this month. {VIP PASS} i got it somehow.

well if you can find dual E5520 cheap enough to be able to afford the rest of the components go for it will definitely be better i am just trying to stay with your budget. A good workstation board with dual sockets is gonna run you at least $400.
