As soon as I connect my controller to bluetooth, it turns off and won't turn back on until I disconnect it from bluetooth. This just randomly started happening yesterday, I have been using it on bluetooth for a couple weeks now.

Things I have done: troubleshoot my computer's bluetooth, factory reset controller, made sure computer and controller are up to date, controller is fully charged, connecting controller using a usb cable works.

Is there a reset button/ small hole on the rear that you can stick a pin in to reset it?
There is.

Bluetooth for PS controller is super flaky on anything that doesn't use Microsoft Bluetooth stack and some adapters doesn't. But really the best thing you can do is just go wired, I hate myself trying to get Bluetooth to work on those for almost a week.
and was having to use a companion program (SCP) which borders right on malware to work right in any fashion
Have you checked out DS4Windows forks? Those have worked very well for me on both DS3 and DS4 controllers, and AFAIK they do have a dualsense emulation. I use this fork personally although I haven't done any breakdown of the open source code to see if it phone home. But I think it shouldn't.
