[SOLVED] Due for an upgrade? Best GPU for i5 6500?

Currently, I am running a system I made back around 2017 with an i5 6500, 16gb DDR4 G Skill Ripjaw (I think 2200 or 2400mhz), and a GTX 960 4gb. I think that I have a slight GPU bottleneck compared to the rest of my hardware. I was doing some research and saw that the 1070 was supposedly the best GPU for the 6500. However, that was a few years ago and I am wondering, a: if that still stands today, along with alternatives, and b: if there is anything in the RTX line that will suit my needs better.

My main goal is to play the new Modern Warfare at medium-high settings at 60fps. I have to run it at very low, and the internal resolution at 60% of 1080p.

Modern Warefare is going to struggle regardless of gpu choice. It’s a very cpu heavy game, your cpu has 4 threads and that game can use up to 12 threads.

A 1070 would work well, just manage expectations as some newer cpu heavy games are going to be limited for fps.

Got it. Thinking about a 1060 as well due to my budget. However, I see refurbished 1070s on Newegg but they seem a bit sketchy and 3rd party.
