Since upgrading my system from Windows 10 to Windows 11, I am having problems with what appear to be duplicated folders. In Windows 10 I had my documents in a folder "C:\Users\dforr\Documents" ("dforrest" is my user name). Now the content of that folder appears to be duplicated in a folder "C:\Users\dforr\OneDrive". is there an explanation for this?

Yes, OneDrive.

It is the same data, only now it is "backed up/duplicated" to the cloud space, OneDrive.

You can disable that if you wish. Or leave it, and have a good backup of your data.

Thanks, that sounds very simple but is causing me problems with older aps thinking I have two copies of several folders. I need to uninstall OneDrive.

Does anyone know of a simple way of completely disabling and uninstalling OneDrive?

Thanks again. I have gone through the unlink and uninstall procedures recommended but I continue to have the same problems.

I still have a folder "C:\Users\dforr\OneDrive\Documents which applications are reading and not my "C:\Users\dforr\Documents" folder as they should.

Current Windows applications default to Saving to the last place they saved.
In your case, the OneDrive space.

Try renaming that /One/Drive/Documents to /NotOneDrive/.
See what happens.

I have tried all you suggested and some (not all) of the documents created are saved in my "C:\Users\dforr\OneDrive" and not my "C:\Users\dforr\Documents" folder, where they should be saved. I have tried many ways to correct this without success. Can anyone on these forums help?

Can you copy those files to some other location.
Completely outside the /Users/dforr/.... realm.
Some other folder completely.
