Hi,

I'd like your recommendations on durable external dvd drives as I've had 2 break on me in less than 2 years. Specifically, I'm looking for something with:

1- something like a 5-year warranty so I know the manufacturer is confident in the durability, and

2- a model where I don't have to clip the disc on the spindle since the little plastic bits which hold the disc always break, so either a carriage where you drop the disc and the drive then picks it up once the carriage is retracted, or a slot in which you push the disc and it gets pulled inside automatically

Thanks!

I haven't seen a center mount holder inside the PC external or internal drives since the carousel CD players.
As for the insert in slot, I call them CD scratchers.
I don't know computers today to have 5 years warranty from mfg., much less small devices.
Asus Blu-Ray external writer seems decent and will last beyond warranty, but usage is always a factor.
