Hello,
during xp install getting the message: There was a problem installing this hardware: Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. After the install completes there is no entry for the USB Controller in the device manager. How can the driver be installed?

Go to the computer manufacturers website and download the chipset drivers, or a USB driver. Look up your machine by model number to get the correct drivers. Actually you may want to download and install all the latest drivers, like Ethernet and audio, etc...

Thanks for the response, I think this has already been done. This is going on with a couple of systems that are being worked on. We are going nuts trying to correct the problem.

you "think" this has already been done? stop assuming, and start eliminating the possibilities, one by one.
Many manufacturers have issued updates for USB driver problems, find the update.
make sure that the anti virus and firewall are turned off when loading the latest drivers, restart, then turn the antivirus and firewall back on.
