Hello,

Just upgraded my system to Windows 7. With the upgrade it appears I've lost support for DVD-Audio on my Creative X-Fi card.

Is there a driver for this card for Windows 7 (64 bit)? If not, is there another card which supports this format?

Thanks.

If it's a PCI-e card, there are Win 7 drivers for it on Creative's website. If it's a PCI card, go to this site http://www.hardwareheaven.com/pax-drivers/ and look for the PAX MASTER PCI XFI ALL OS Driver Suite V1.40 in the PCI X-Fi drivers section. They're not "official" drivers, but I have a PCI X-Fi (Dell/Alienware OEM XtremeGamer) card myself, and that driver works just fine for me with Win 7 x64. In fact, Creative doesn't even make official drivers for that particular card, so I HAVE to use those, but they work with any PCI X-Fi card.

As you'll see, the same person makes PCI-e drivers as well, if it's a PCI-e card and you need to try those because the Creative official drivers don't work for you.

Also, just doing a quick Google search, I couldn't find anyone else that had this problem, other than a possible issue with using XP drivers in Win 7 that might break the DVD-A support. Try uninstalling the drivers and all Creative software, and then use Driver Cleaner/Driver Sweeper to clear out anything else that is left behind. For good measure, you might want to run a registry cleaner of some kind, too. Then reinstall only the PAX drivers to see what happens.

I have had several drivers issues with my X-Fi when I moved to W7 x64. The solution for me was to download and install DanielK's drivers for the X-Fi. They have proved to be much more reliable that Creative's ones (ironic, isn't it?)

I do not have a link, but if you Google it you should be able to find it.

Let me know how you go.

I have never had any problems with Daniel's drivers (both on XP and W7 x64). They have always worked better, or plain just worked!!!

PS to Creative: You should considering hiring this guy instead of fighting him!.... sometimes it is better to shut up and listen, to learn something!

Thanks to both you and DJDeCiBeL for that information.

Question is, support for the MediaSource DVD-Audio Player 2.00.78 seems to be limited to 32-bit. Are you running the player on a 64-bit OS?
