DVD burner health?

New to these forums - I have a suspicion my burner needs replacing. I can't successfully burn any disk. I just tried to burn an image. Here is the print out from /var/log/messages:

Yes, my money is on it being a bad burner after spending 20 minutes reading the causes of that error on various websites.
