DVD Burners will read but not write.

My 500W power supply recently popped. I replaced it with an older 350W supply and now my 2 DVD burners will read but not write, even though I replaced the 350 with another 500W unit. Lite-On tried to help but to no avail. Said I need to re-install OS. I built the unit myself and I'm out of ideas. Will entertain any and all> Thanks, Paul

Are those SATA drives? If so, does your newer power supply provide 3.3v power to the SATA power connections?

Unfortunately, no. I failed to include the fact that they are EIDE drives.

Then it is possible when the power supply failed it damaged the drives.
