Hi!
I am facing a problem, having 40+ empty DVDs TDK x16 4,7 GB

I am burning very important data on them at 8x speed

I always check them with Nero afterwards and always copy all data from them once as a test, but would like to know how reliable is a x8 writing speed and how can i thoroughly test a DVD if the data on it is fully working?
Thanks in advance for replies!

Solution
Burning important data to a media like that is not a good idea. Media degrades over time and you can lose things. DVD+R is better for data, DVD-R is better for movies. That's not to say you can't use either for data though. Media is also sensitive to environmental changes.

Generally just burn them as slow as you can, and let Nero double check them after being burnt. Other than that it is what it is.

As with any backup, one is not enough, you should have multiples.

Well you scared me.
Actually im burning installer DVDs for the sole purpose of having them if i ever need them in the future (at a windows reinstall for example),
They are stashed away properly, sadly i can no longer keep these data on my HDD, its starting to fill up.
