So i just built a new comp and used the same case and same dvd drives.
My issue is, the sata cable i have is not long enough to reach the 1st and 2nd sata inputs from the dvd drive, so I connected it to my sata 5 input. However, now my computer wont recognize my dvd drive. it opens, lights up and is even in the bios as the DVD drive to be used, but it wont read dvds, when I click on the shortcut in "my computer" it says there is nothing in the drive.

So since I cant use the drive I cant install the new drivers for the new motherboard....or get on the internet...

any suggestions?

everything is secure and the drive is recognized in the bios like i said...but it is plugged into either the sata 5 or 6 port...idk if that is the problem, but i dont have a longer cable atm, and i dont want to have to buy one if I dont need to.

Will plugging the drive into the 1st or second sata port make a difference? how can I get it to read the 5th port?
