DVD Drive never spins down

Hello:
I own a Plextor PX-750A DVD drive. This drive never spins down -- if you leave a disc in it, it will spin all night, even if no program is accessing the disk. It's not that big of a deal, but it's kind of noisy and irritating. Does anyone know how to change this behavior?

BTW: Running WinXP/SP2 w/ current patches, drive is running current firmware (1.03, I believe)

I never heard of that before! Well you could try using NERO tools to set the speed of your drive, so even if it speeds, it will do so in a much lower (and noiseless) speed. Try switching autorun off as well in Windows.
On the other hand you could probably use your constantly spinning disc for DNA and blood sample analysis! hehe...
