Hi
I bought a genuine Assassins Creed 1,2 and Revelations.
I installed and played the Assassins Creed 2. But when I try to install Revelations, the DVD doesn't read on my drive, and when I try to open it, it asks me to insert a disk into the drive.
The same is happening when I put in the Creed 2 DVD, which didn't happen before.
Then, I put both the DVDs in my friend's computer and his computer reads the disks fine.
And also, my computer is reading all the other DVDs, except for the Assassin's Creed DVDs.

I need a solution. Please help.

I don't think that would be the case, because my drive is better than my friend's drive.
Also, I don't understand why only those two DVDs.
They are new and in good condition.
Also, how do you suggest cleaning the disk?

I don't know the answer but I see this with my win 7 . some dvd's that work 100% fine on other os's can be like pulling teeth when installing in 7 ?

as said '' I think it is a Windows 7 problem. I also have 2 DVD R/RW drives that sometimes cannot be seen by the OS. I also had Vista on the same system so I rebooted into that, and both drives worked well. ''

have you tried something like this ?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems

also it seemed there was a Microsoft update that affect this as well like this one

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2428633

I cleaned my disks with dawn dish soap rinse and lightly ''pat' dry don't wipe dry as may cause scratches

Actually, I also have 2 drives. One is the DVD writer drive, and the other one is the virtual BD-ROM drive which I got by installing daemon tools.
As I said, my friend is also having the same two drivers just like me, and both of us are having windows 7. But those disks work just fine on his drive.
Also, I tried cleaning the disk, but no luck.

ya, I know .. like I said I see windows 7 just don't like working with optical drives/ disks .. and like I said what sucks to do in 7 has no issues on my Linux -xp or vista at all [and that's using the same drive ] stick the disk in the drive and load it right up but 7 spits and sputters with a few games and programs ..

heck it took it seemed like over an hour to load crisis 1 on 7 and you can sure tell it was having issues with reading the disk or something .. crazy -- but zipped right in vista as normal ... just like the guy said in the anand link I gave above

seeing something like that makes me wonder if Microsoft has another update that affects 7 as well behind the scenes ??

that's a lot of updates tom have to dig through to try to pin point the one if it is one of them

then you said the dvd worked in your buddies computer ? unless you can swap out the optical drive to insure it not the issue you realy don't know ? some drives can have issues with certain media or your drive maybe defective in some way or you need to see if theres a new firmware update for it ..

Ok, so you say it is the problem with windows 7. I also happen to have windows 8.1 setup which I haven't tried yet. So I'll try and respond if it works.

Also, I read in my motherboard support that my mobo is compatible with windows 8 better. I didn't like windows 8 though. What do you think is better? Windows 7 or 8.1

And, do you think installing windows 8.1 would increase the gaming performance or decrease it?

Yep.. I swapped the DVD writer, and you know what, the writer was reading fine. Guess it's the problem with my writer after all.
But I still don't understand why my drive cannot read only Assassin's Creed DVDs. The other DVDs work fine.

this stuffs funny these days - I don't think anybody cares about compatibly anymore. just get the part out and sell

your drive may need a firmware update if theres one offered .. like I said some drives have issues with some media . sometimes if they see that they will release a firmware update to heplp resolve that or you may just got a defective drive ?? no telling

with any of this stuff today it will work as you expect or it don't .. fingers crossed
