OK this is pretty weird. I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 because my DVD burner was acting up. It recognizes the drive in POST, boots from the Windows install DVD... everything seems fine. After installation is done and i've installed Virus protection and updated Windows etc. I try and install a game and it wont mount the disc... It wont mount any disc. So I used Microsoft's "Fix It" app. It was able to mount one disc. I thought "cool, it found the issue and fixed it". Nope, now it wont mount anything again and "Fix It" doesn't seem to know what the deal is either. Basically when I insert a disc, it revs up for a second and blinks like normal basically, then stops and hits the HDD... rinse and repeats the same ting several times then gives up. I guess this drive is dead/dieing? I would think so but I can install windows w/o a problem from the same drive. Ugh, I'll be honest, I'm at my wits end here. Anyone ever have this issue?
