DVD player won't open and missing

Hello, when I push the button to open the DVD drawer on my laptop nothing happens, and the player is no longer listed in My Computer.

you may have to adjust a reg entry and reboot. normally it can happen on windows installs on unsupported hardware like putting windows 7 on a toshiba that was shipped with windows xp.
