I've installed a DVD-ROM drive to IDE3 on my motherboard. Although the device is recognized in the BIOS startup screen, it doesn't show up in windows.

Any ideas?

Gigabyte GA-7DXR mobo
Hitachi GD-2000 DVD-ROM

If this helps, I have hard drive attached to IDE1
DVD-ROM, CD-RW attached to IDE2 master/slave

I don't know what windows you are running (98 2000 xp). I do know that when my DVD software does not find a DVD player it does not load. It sounds like your DVD software did not load software to tell Windows that you have a DVD drive. Check next time you boot the computer that every thing in your CONFIG.SYS And AUTOEXEC.BAT files load correctly. Any errors are displayed on the screen at boot-up. So I suggest watching boot up procedures. Also has the DVD drive ever functioned on this computer?

Wake up and smell the coffee! P.S. but not too early in the Morning!

You have two DVD-ROM's? Why is that?
