DVD ROM Reads DVD But No CD

My Ultima DHM-G48 DVD ROM drive reads DVDs but not CDs (e.g. original Music, CD-R windows files) in Win 7. Windows says it's using a MS driver. Do I need to install a driver (if so can anyone recommend a reliable website)?

It's set up as a master drive on the end of an IDE cable.

Edit: I thought it would read a CD on boot, but I was mistaken. It won't read any CDs.

I also had this problem in my older 8yr old system which my father uses. I think its the dvd drives laser. After i started getting this problem dvd's would read instantly(faster than ever) but in case of cd's very rarely would the cd's get read and that also only 1 in about a 1000 maybe 😀 would get read. Then i replaced the DVD Drive and all the problems were fixed and it was back to normal. You could try replacing your dvd drive. After all, how much does a dvd drive cost? There are very good dvd drives even under 20$
