DVD-ROM wont read fully disk on new motherboard

Hi lads so this is the problem:

I have a new mobo Foxconn A74ML-K 3.0 ( http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000491 ), I've put on it my PHILIPS SPD3400CC ATA Device drive ( witch was originally and external drive but works fine inside a PC)... and it wont read disk all the way...
Meaning that the drive finds the size of the disk, the name etc... it takes like 5min to find that info and after that it wont open and explorer.exe frozes up!

I'have a second DVD drive I've tried with it, it wont work either...

Replace the IDE cable / power source of the DVD drive with another one and try again.
