DVD RW Driver specific to os

Do the dvd rw require unique driver for win7 etc.,
Saw an Asus dvd spec's that showed win2000, xp and am wondering if this dvd rw will operate with Win7?

The CD drives don't require a unique driver for Windows 7. It will work fine in Windows 7.

There is no driver needed for dvd drives or hard drives. They are designed to use a default driver. This is required otherwise you would be in a catch22 loop of needing to first install your driver onto your installed windows, before you can install windows.

The ASUS one you saw was probably an old model released before Windows 7 was available, that's the only reason it's not mentioned.
Optical drive manufacturer's no longer need to supply their own driver as it's a universal Microsoft one which Windows XP through to Windows 8 have built-in - - making any optical drive plug-and-play.
