I just got new laptop HP 250 G7 6MR38ES and i was planning to replace its DVD to optical drive. I found out that DVD is DVD-RW DA-8AESH and I looked up it's specs and it says it has 9mm height which is weird beacuse I though standards were 9.5,12.5 and 12.7 mm. I was looking up optical drive to rasplace that DVD with and found ICY BOX IB-AC649 optical drive. My question is: will that work, also when I'll be looking for a HDD to put in optical drive does height of HDD matter also?

Solution
OK.
The standard thicknesses are 7mm, 9.5mm, and 15mm.
An SSD would generally be 7mm.

Will that adapter work in your particular laptop? Unknown.
I'd ask ICY BOX for specifics.

Is that thickness of a SSD/HDD? And that DVD optical drive is 9 mm thick and that adapter is for 7-9 mm thick optical drives which is kinda weird, but all in all that adapter should be able to work right?

Almost all 2.5" SSD's are 7mm.
HDD's vary between 7mm and 9.5mm.
And then the weird ones at 15mm.

Will that adapter work with just about any 2.5" drive? Yes.
Will it work with your laptop? Unknown.
