DVD/vhs combo will not play tapes but the DVD still works any suggestions on troubleshooting

Troubleshooting my vhs/DVD player the vhs side won't play tapes

Not much you can do, can simply be that the VHS tape playback is broken. If you can repair VCRs you may be able to fix it, but then you would not have asked online if you were. We are assuming you checked with several tapes and rules out easy things like it making odd noise or grinding?
