Having spent a lot of money replacing old VHS library on DVD I am not interested in repurchasing again as downloads.

I want to buy a tablet for music/film/e-reading. I want to be able to watch my library of discs on it.

Why do I get the feeling that there is an industry wide conspiracy to make this impossible? How many times do I have to pay for the same film? It makes me sick.

What are the options?

there is LEGAL software that allows you to digitize or "backup" your movie DVD's. You are legally allowed to Backup your DVD copies as long as you keep the original and do not distribute any of the backups. Just google "DVD backup software" or "DVD to file" or something like that and you'll find options. After you get the software, you will be able to backup all ur DVD's to a digital file and store them wherever. Typically, the best thing is to create a home video server that will distribute the movies to all ur devices in home. Or you could just keep them on 1 computer and copy them to the tablet when you want.

An alternative to this might be some DLNA DVD player or something for in home video viewing.

Otherwise, the only other option would be to use an external USB drive (if your tablet has USB connectivity)
