DVD won't work

I can not play DVD's on my system. The drive functions fine otherwise. My system is Hitachi 12X DVD, Athlon 800, Abit KA7-100, Elsa Gladiac (Geforce2 GTS card), 256mb pc 133, SB LIve value, Maxtor 40GB on Win 98se. I tried to use Power DVD, program crashes every time. With Xing DVD, I can only play one DVD out of four I have tried. I have played around with the Drive settings and have installed the latest drivers for everything, including the Motherboard. I think this might be a software problem. Do I simply need to go to the store and actually pay for Power DVD or something? Any Ideas?

I've used WinDVD with my Hitachi drive. It works fine.

I downloaded Windvd2000 v2.3 trial and it actually works! Thanks very much. Now i just need to find a crack for it
