I'm thinking about buying a DVD-Writer. I'm considering picking up an external USB2 writer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to use it with my laptop (USB1) for mobile data storage. At home, I'd like to use it to copy movies and storage (my MB has USB2 ports).

I thought RW+ was the format the industry was leaning towards. I've noticed that there are writers that support multiple formats. Does it matter?

Thanks in advance!

Dual format does matter. In fact, there're still a lot of DVD players and drives which support only the RW- format (the first format appeared in DVD burner market).

I concur, but you could save a pretty penny if you go for an internal drive. The industry isn't really leaning either way. In fact, they seem to be moving both ways at once!
