DVI cable no longer working

I've just bought a 144hz monitor and ive been using a DVI-D cable to get the 144hz, and up until now its been working fine but now on the monitor it just says no cable connected even though it is plugged in properly, I even bought a new cable and it still comes up with the same message. Can anyone help?

Make sure that the input in the monitors settings (it could be a button) is set to dvi.
