Theres: DVI (single link) DVI (dual link) DVI D (Single link) DVI D (Dual link) DVI A (analog link) Basically the Dual link one's support much higher resolutions than the single link ones. Some of the older industry cards like the fire gl, or the quadro used a connector that looked like a dvi but it had a different pinout. This connector was usually used with a dual vga dongle.
