[SOLVED] dvi-d adapter

Solution
hi, i bought this adapter https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DVI-D-Active-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00C93JQXS

it works fine, however when i turn off the pc the gpu (gtx 1070) lights stay on still, this only happens when i leave it plugged on with the usb power cord for the adapter. is this risky? should i use it without the power cord? (it works fine both ways, besides this part)
Your PC apparently has USB ports that stay powered to allow device charging. The 5VDC from the USB port is connected to the 5VDC pin in the DVI connector. That allows the LEDs on your card to stay lit. You might check your BIOS and disable the charging feature. OR you can use it without the USB adapter if if functions correctly.

Huh interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks! It won't cause any harm if I use it without the connector?
