I know Dual links are designed for higher resolutions to pass 60hz and higher but does it make any difference with 1080p 60hz? Does it lock at 60hz anyways? Because I do have a monitor that supports dual link but what gives? It locks at 60hz. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014299

I checked Nivida control panels and I see nothing that shows 76hz? Driver related or what? Does this mean it can run 76hz at lower resolution or what? I rather not overclock my monitor because I heard it can damage your components but I wanna play it safe and ask here.

Solution
You either have enough bandwidth to pass a given resolution and refresh rate or you don't. Having 10X more bandwidth to spare beyond that makes absolutely no difference.
