DVI-D Monitor port and DVI-I PC port

I hooked up my PC to my monitor, the PC has a DVI-I port and the monitor have a DVI-D port, but the screen is not clear, the colors are really bright and you can barley make out the words on the screen and the screen is jumping, does that mean the 2 ports are not compatible? Help!!

You need to get a adapter for the port so that they work smoothly.

Attach these to the end of the cord connecting to the PC.
One question, does the cord you're using have both DVI-I and DVI-D connectors (one on each side)?
