hi good day all!..i have a display monitor which supports both dv-d dual link and vga cables and so is my video card.
my question is which one to choose and which one is much better in general?

Solution
I do not believe the cables are compatible with each other. There is an extra pin on one of them. And, no, the reason its -D is it is DUAL LINK, where as the older one was single link. You need a dual link cable if that is what the video card has.
DVI-D is digital.
VGA is not.

So DVI-D is better. However, be aware that after the cards that are currently on the market are gone, so will both VGA and DVI.

DisplayPort (DP) and HDMI is all that will be on future cards. There will be some models specifically for third world countries that might still have DVI-D. But VGA is pretty much already gone worldwide.

thank you for the quick answer sir MarkW , i have a follow up question sir if you dont mind, can i use dvi-d single link on my dual link and do i get the same performance as using a dual link cable?
