I have an old monitor from 2013 that I still want to use but it only has a DVI-D port. It is a 2560x1440 60hz monitor.

Can someone link me to a product I can purchase that I can convert the DVI-D from my monitor to HDMI so I can plug it into my laptop or desktop?

I've tried a simple DVI-D to HDMI adapter but it didn't work. I couple see that my PC detected the monitor when plugged in but it would receive no signal

You're actually converting the HDMI signal from your laptop to DVI-D for the monitor but we knew what you meant :)
There are tons of adapters since this is pretty much just a change in connector types
I have a couple similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Anbear-Bi-Directional-Female-Adapter-Conveter/dp/B07TBLWFQX

I am not sure why mine didn't work. I purchased this one.

I need the DVI-D to be male and the HDMI side to be female so I can connect a longer hdmi cable to reach my laptop or desktop PC.

That's what I linked. You connect your existing dvi-d cable to this.

Which monitor do you have> Perhaps you dont have DVI-d?

It was some old Korean brand from 2013 I don't remember the name but it is DVI-D according to the pin layout.

Edit: I will try looking at the back of the monitor when I get home to see if I can get the model number.

Is there no way to force it to display at a lower resolution? I don't mind having it run at 1920x1080.
This monitor is for basic browsing as my TV in the living room is for gaming.
